ISKI Paşaköy Advanced Biological Wastewater Treatment Plant, which has a treatment capacity of 100,000 m³ per day for 500.000 residents, comprises sludge dryers, a UV disinfection system, biofilters and other advanced system equipment.
Turkey’s First and Largest Thermal Sludge Drying Plant Using Cogeneration
Turkey’s First and Largest Wastewater Reuse Project Using Sand Filtration and UV Disinfection
Project Start Date: January 2007
Project Ending Date: August 2010
Capacity: 100.000 m³ / day
Population Equivalent: 500.000
Project Description
Process
The system consists of pretreatment, biological phosphorus removal, denitrification and nitrification through extended aeration, and final clarifiers. Other facilities include sludge drying with CHP, anaerobic sludge digestion, odor removal with ozone, UV disinfection, biofiltration pretreatment, biological phosphorus pool, blower building, final clarifiers, sludge drying, cogeneration unit, substation, and landscaping.
Goals
Advanced biological treatment of wastewater collected in the basin to protect the Ömerli Reservoir,
Converting hazardous sludge (200 ton/day) into useful dry product (50 ton/day) through the sludge drying process,
Generating heat for thermal sludge drying using waste heat from the Gas Turbine Cogeneration System (2 x 4.6MW),
Producing water for irrigation and industrial purposes through sand filtration and UV disinfection of discharge water,
Odor removal through the Biofiltration Unit.
Service Area
Treatment of wastewater generated in Sarıgazi, Samandıra, Sultanbeyli, Alemdağ, Yenidoğan and Sultançiftliği. The areas supplied via this plant are: Sancaktepe, Ataşehir, Maltepe,Sultanbeyli,Kartal, Çekmeköy.
