İSKİ Tuzla Advanced Biological Wastewater Treatment Plant 2nd Phase
Tuzla Plant has the highest capacity (150,000 m3/h) for odor removal units with ozone in Turkey.
Project Start Date: January 2008
Project Completıon Date: December 2010
Capacıty: 100,000 M3/Day
Number Of People Servıced: 500,000
Process
The system consists of pretreatment, biological phosphorus removal, denitrification and nitrification through extended aeration, and final clarifiers. Thus, carbon, nitrogen, and phosphor removal are obtained. In addition, there are cogeneration sludge drying, anerobic sludge digestion, and odor removal units with ozone. The plant features sludge digestion, sludge drying, UV disinfection, bio filters, biological phosphorus removal, pretreatment, preclarification, aeration, blower building, final clarifiers, and a cogeneration unit.
Goals
- Advanced biological treatment of all wastewater that is accumulated in basins and polluting the Marmara Sea,
- Transformation of 300 tons/day of hazardous wet sludge into 75 tons/day of useful dry product by applying the drying method,
- Generation of heat for thermal sludge drying using waste heat from the Gas Turbine Cogeneration System (2x4.6 MW),
- Addition of 4 8,000 m2 Anerobic Sludge Decayers for biogas generation,
- Setting up Ozone Scrubbers to eliminate Tuzla’s long-lasting bad smell problem.
Districts
Treatment of wastewater generated in Gebze, Darıca, Çayırova, Pendik, Kartal and Tuzla, and flowing into the Marmara Sea.
